First and foremost, bring out the Canon Printer cautiously from its package to begin the Canon Setup process. Along with that, remove all the packaging material.
Now, clear out every section of your Printer from the plastic tapes without causing any damage to this sensitive machine.
Next, you should place it on a flat and safe surface within the signal range of your Network. In case of a Wired Printer, ensure that it is close to the Router and the Computer so as to hook it up properly.
After that, set up its Ink Cartridges and Paper Tray correctly. Then, load the Paper Tray with plain A4 size white paper to perform Canon Setup.
Thereafter, you must hook up the Printer to a stable Power Source, preferably a Wall Outlet with its Power Cord. Now, switch on the power source and turn on the Printer by pressing its “Power” button. Consequently, its Power Lamp must light up. But ensure it remains stable.
Now, Canon Setup will begin your Printer’s Initialization and Alignment processes. Hence, wait for the same.
Meanwhile, turn on your Windows Device and Router. Besides, ensure that the Router is properly functioning. Moreover, your Computer must be connected to this Network for Canon Setup.
Next, you should insert the “Installation CD” in the Disk Drive of your Windows device.
As a result, Canon Setup will open its Autorun window. Here, you must click “Run” to proceed further. However, in case it fails to run automatically. Then, remove the CD and insert it back again. After that, access your system’s CD-Drive from the “Computer” Folder. Here, you should double-click on the Setup File to open it.
After this, you will get the “User Account Control” menu box. Hence, click “Yes” and allow Canon Setup to install the Driver Package.
On the following “Printer Setup” window, click “Next”.
As a result, it will take you to the “Connection Method Selection” window. Hence, click “Network Connection” to proceed further.
The following window requires you to choose between “Wireless Connection” or “Wired Connection”. Hence, choose as per your Printer and Router’s infrastructure.
In case if you opted for “Wireless Connection” in the last step. Then, the next window will prompt you to ensure that the Printer is turned on. For this, you should check its Power Lamp which must be lit and stable. Alternatively, press the “ON” button.
Then, click “Next” on the Canon Setup Wizard.
Subsequently, click “Connect To The Network” on the next “Printer Setup” window.
On the following “Setup Procedure Selection” window, you must select between “WPS” and “Cableless Setup” options. “WPS” method is meant only for the “WPS-enabled” Routers. On the other hand, “Cableless Setup” method can be used for all standard Routers. Along with that, “Cableless Setup” method takes more time to complete the Network Connection. Besides that, your Internet Connection is disabled temporarily. Moreover, Windows XP based systems cannot perform this method.
Now, if you opt for the “Cableless Setup” connection. Then, approach your Printer’s Control Panel to proceed with Canon Setup. Here, you must press and hold its WiFi button. Then, wait for the “Power Lamp” to flash for 2 times. Thereafter, release it.
Subsequently, if you have finished the last step correctly. Then, click “Next” on the Canon Setup Wizard. On the other hand, click “Start Again” and repeat the last step once again.
As a result, the Canon Printer’s blue “WiFi Lamp” will start flashing. But the “Power Lamp” will remain lit and stable. As such, click “Next”.
Consequently, it will start the Canon Setup process which will take some time. Meanwhile, it will also disable the Network. Hence, wait patiently.
Then, “Select Your Place of Residence” appropriately and click “Next”.
On the following window, select your “Country” appropriately. Then, click “Next”.
Thereafter, Canon Setup displays a list of Driver software available for installation. Hence, select appropriately. However, you can install all of them by clicking on “Select All”.
The following window informs you about the required “disk space”. Therefore, check the same and click “Next” if your system has sufficient space.
After that, closely review the terms of “License Agreement” on the following window. Then, click “Yes” to accept them.
Now, click “Next” on the Firewall Settings window.
Consequently, Canon Setup will detect your Network and connect the Printer to it. Meanwhile, it may require you to repeat the process for 2-3 times. In other words, you should click the “Redetect” button when prompted to “Check Printer Settings”. However, if it continues the same issue. Then, perform a Test Print to ensure that the Printer is connected to the right Network.
The following “Setup Completion” window displays your printer’s “Model Number” and “Network’s SSID (Name)”. Hence, go through the details and ensure it is correct. Then, click “Complete”.
Subsequently, click “Next” on the following “Print Head Alignment Recommended” window.
On the following “Setup Complete” window, click “Next”.
The following window guides you with “User Registration”. Hence, click “Next” and follow instructions to complete the process. Else, click “Cancel” to register later.
Thereafter, go through the details of the “Extended Survey Program”. Accordingly, select “Agree” or “Disagree” to proceed with Canon Setup.
At last, click on the “Exit” tab and restart your “Computer”.
* Standard Setup for Mac
Begin the Canon Setup procedure by accurately completing the Hardware Setup process as explained above for the Windows device.
Now, turn on your Printer, Computer and Router. In addition to that, connect the Computer with the Router/ Network.
Next, you should insert the Installation CD in the CD Drive of your Mac platform. Else, you can download the Printer Driver Package from the official Canon Setup website.
As a result, you will get an Autorun window. Here, you must click on “Run”.
Thereafter, it will open the Welcome window for the Canon Setup Wizard. Here, you should click “Next”.
Then, provide your “Mac Administrator User ID and Password”. Thereafter, click “Next”.
Subsequently, select “Network Connection” on the next window.
After that, select “Wireless Connection” for Canon Setup.
Now, check your Printer’s Power Lamp and confirm it is turned on. Then, click “Next”.
Thereafter, click “Open” on the next pop-up box.
Then, click “Connect To The Network”.
Next, you should opt for the “Cableless Setup” method.
Subsequently, enable “Cableless Setup” on your Canon Printer. For this, follow the on-screen guide for Canon Setup.
After that, click “Allow”.
Now, select “Your Region” and click “Next”.
The following Canon Setup window presents a list of software available for installation. Therefore, click on “Select All” followed by “Next”.
Thereafter, it will take you to the “License Agreement” window. Now, read the agreement carefully. Then, click “Yes” to accept the same.
As a result, Canon Setup will install the Driver Package. Hence, wait for it.
After that, you can perform “Add Printer”, “Print Head Alignment Recommended”, “User Registration”, and “Extended Survey Program”.
Finally, click “Exit” and restart your Mac device.
